2018 ecosport battery

Newer symbol for a Charging SYSTEM
Ok, so you did have a problem, what symbol are you seeing in the above examples?
Reason - one symbol - the BATTERY one, will only "glow" when you have a true battery or charging Alternator problem and usually is the OLDER standard for the system to show you have a problem with the electrical system.
The newer one works also with the Dash board ALT light - the older BATT symbol above - which when fixed, goes away and the system charges and runs normally.
Now, with newer electronic systems and their needs - a secondary system has been introduced and that is the other ICON showing something more like a Battery Pile (Volta-representation schematically) and means that the Battery power in a system is low and needs to be fixed - but not always related to the older Battery Symbol ICON.
It (the Battery pile symbol) means the secondary system is low and needs attention or more time driving to re-charge and hold the power in it. If you do short trips the two systems may not be able to keep each other fully charged or charged enough to maintain proper memory - so a fail-safe system is used and if it's used too often - the Pile ICON shows up as needs more attention.
To fix these - requires more drive time, less drain on the system for entertainment or off-running (using ACC setting) which drains the system and leaves it in a less than ideal state of reserve charge. IF you drive normally and just shut off the system will all the accessories off, the Pile ICON will disappear in time - it may also come on at times the system thinks the weather (cold nights) can drain the system so you should run the engine for a little more time (just a few minutes) with all the accessories including heated driver seats and defroster systems kept turned off when not used, to let the battery and all it's subsystems to stabilize and recoup a charge as they rest from the use they had during that drive cycle.
IF the vehicle sits for a while or has been stored and then placed back into service the Pile ICON will appear every time it's started until a self-check it does on itself (that fail-safe system described earlier) passes it's own diagnostics and tells the dashboard light to turn off. Might take several drive cycles to do this. IF it's recently shown up and stays on even with the Battery ICON off, then it may be damaged or needs to have a service diagnostic done to it - that requires a trip to a service department capable of running a Electrical Health Diagnostic on the newer system to "listen" and monitor that part of the electrical systems health and if necessary - a smaller battery may need to be replaced also so the backup systems using that power source for "keep alive" is restored.
This smaller battery is used for powering the electronics in systems that "kill" the idle (stop the engine and restart it when you move) when stopped at lights to save gas and reduce emissions - this ICON is for those systems - and if too low - will stay lit until that battery is replaced.
Another battery that uses this ICON for Alarm systems as well as for reserve for entertainment and AUX power - so the ICON itself simply means that a secondary system exists and needs to be maintained.

No no problem with car wife got in it one day and battery light came on check altenator output 13.5/14 volts .r”Replaced battery since it was original reset light start car run for a minute light back on change altenator since it was original.rReset light start car after couple minutes light back on read up on a chat.Was told to change negative cable with little box on cable changed cable reset light after a few min light back on.

Little box on cable?
Means you have a Battery Monitor and it needs to be reset.
The logic that "set it off" needs to be reset - it's simply letting you know that it needs attention so you don't find yourself stranded with a dead battery again.
So the system follows that battery charge level - and it remembers it, but it doesn't know if you remembered to reset the profile so it can then run it's own diagnostic on the charging system.
This is part of what I was mentioning earlier - interesting to know you did not have another ICON aside from the Battery light.
So you may need to call someone to help you thru this step by step for FORD did not describe this in their Owners manual - so you may need someone to help you reset the Monitor function
The System is called Battery Monitoring System (BMS) - it's for other accessories you may also have Factory-installed in the EcoSport - including a "Power Point" Head - which supplies 120V thru the use of an Inverter - so it can place a drain on the system if this sub-system was used or left on - the BMS system is designed to shut off all power including to the Power Head so it doesn't drain the battery too far down it can't be restarted.
So it may need to be reset - but to do that requires a trip or someone with knowledge of the BMS system to reset it using a set of steps that are specific to the Ecosport and no, I don't not own one so even I can't begin to tell you how it needs to be done.
There are several YT vids showing "Battery Monitor System" resets with Key to "On" not started - using High-Beam Flash of 5 times then Press Brake 3 and then wait for the Battery light to wink - takes about 25 seconds to finish this reset.
That is the only one I know of.
